There are three basic colors: yellow, red, and blue. These are called primary colors. They are basic because they can not be derived from other colors.
Secondary colors are orange, violet and green. We get secondary colors, when we mix the neighboring colors in the circle.
Tertiary colors are red-violet, red-orange, blue-green, yellow-green, blue-violet, and yellow-orange. We get tertiary colors, if we mix the primary and secondary colors.
Harmonic colors are, for example: yellow, lemon yellow, orange-yellow, orange-brown. All 4 of these are originating from the area between yellow and orange, so they fit together nicely. Harmonic colors are those, which are the neighbors in the color circle.
Complementary colors are those in the color circle, that are lying on the opposite side from one another, and are generating a voltage. Yellow is complementary to purple; orange is complementary to blue and green is complementary to red.
Warm colors are red, orange, and yellow.
Cool colors are blue, green, and purple.
Neutral colors are white, brown, and beige.
There are seven colors in the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
There is an easy way to remember them by order (a mnemonic):

White is not a color (it is a combination of all colors).
Black is not a color (it is the absence of all colors).
Most basic way to create brown is to mix all the primary colors together (yellow, red and blue color).
You can mix complementary colors together. Blue and orange, red and green, or yellow and purple.
Add black or white to lighten or darken the paint.
Orange is a secondary color. You can make it by combining two primary colors, yellow and red (It is a mixture of red and yellow).
You can make it by combining two primary colors, blue and yellow (It is a mixture of blue and yellow).
You can make it by combining two primary colors, blue and red (It is a mixture of blue and red).
You can make it by combining blue and magenta (It is a mixture of blue and magenta).
You can make it by combining red and white (It is a mixture of red and white).
You can make it by combining equal parts of red, yellow, and blue.
Black is made when mixed together blue and brown.
When mixing paint, there are no colors that can be mixed to make white.
You can get white by mixing red, green and blue. When mixed, white light is created. This is called additive color mixing.
By mixing equal parts of brown and yellow to make a goldenrod shade.
Or by mixing red, blue, and yellow to make a brown-based gold.
Or combined equal parts black, red, and yellow to create a deep gold.
You can make it by combining black and white. Or red and green, or yellow and purple, or blue and orange, or red, yellow and blue. Blending the colors should result in gray paint.
When mixing paint, there are no colors that can be mixed to make yellow. Because it is primary color.
You can get yellow by mixing green and red. This is called additive color mixing.
Red is a primary color, so you can’t create it by mixing any other colors.
You can’t make blue because it’s one of the three primary colors.
